We all need help and support. We need a safe place to share our feelings and to think through our problems. People rarely succeed without wise counsel from someone who has more life experience or expertise in certain areas.

Sometimes we wonder if we need therapy. Did you know, even therapists need a therapist sometimes? You don’t have to have a mental illness to need help. Insurance requires a diagnosis to pay for treatment.

You don’t need a mental health diagnosis to need help. You just need to want to be a little better tomorrow than you were yesterday. You just need to want to continue to grow as a person.

When you start therapy, we ask questions about your experiences, and as you talk, we look for symptoms, the list of which seems endless. Those include, but are not limited to, the following in no particular order:

Difficulty Sleeping

Sadness

Feeling down in the dumps

Thoughts racing through your head uncontrollably

Feeling like you are beating your head against a wall.

Feeling like you are just spinning your wheels

Feeling like you can’t get anything done

Nervousness

Panic Attacks

Being unable to say “no” to others

Doing things before you think

Arguing endlessly

Over reacting

Maybe you are experiencing more serious symptoms:

Flashbacks

Verbal Aggression

Physical aggression

Overusing Alcohol

Nightmares

Using other drugs

Seeing things that others can’t see

Hearing voices that others can’t hear

Feeling hopeless and better off dead

Wishing you could just end it all.

Wanting someone else to die

Thinking that you might just end it all for yourself and/or for someone else

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms or others not mentioned, then you likely need help, even if you don’t suffer from a mental illness.
